Call the Midwife

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the enormously successful BBC television series Call the Midwife, Henrietta collaborated with the actor Stephen McGann, who plays Dr Turner in the series, on a lavish book, published in 2021 by Weidenfeld and Nicolson.

The book gives a behind-the-scenes view of the programme, featuring interviews conducted by Henrietta with actors and creatives, both in front of and behind the camera.

Miranda Hart (Chummy) talks about being nervously inexperienced with babies but having to pretend not to know how to ride a bike, Jenny Agutter (Sister Julienne) delights in the programme’s unflinching honesty and Miriam Margolyes (Sister Mildred) describes the horror of wearing a wet wimple.
